Subaru turbos are tucked under the intake, so these testers mount on the turbo intake pipe instead of the turbo itself. Pick yours by model and year. There are testers for the WRX and STI with the stock turbo from 2004 on, for the WRX and Legacy GT up to 2003, and for the 2015 and newer WRX with the FA20. FA20 owners running a Perrin 3" intake pipe have their own tester. The vinyl cap assortment is handy for capping vacuum and boost ports during the test. Fit the tester, add air slowly starting around 5 PSI, and listen and spray soapy water along the intercooler couplers, the throttle body and the PCV lines. Top mount intercooler boots and the bypass valve are common leak points on these cars, and a small leak is often the reason for slow spool or a P0299.
