There are three Toyota testers: one for the Supra 2JZ-GTE and two for the MR2 Turbo 3S-GTE. Pick the MR2 tester by turbo. 1990 to 1994 cars use the CT26 tester, and 1994 and newer cars use the CT20 tester. Check the turbo itself if your car has been swapped or upgraded. All three are billet aluminum with a liquid-filled gauge. On these older cars, rubber couplers, intercooler boots and vacuum lines harden with age, and a small leak means less boost, slower spool and a richer mixture. Fit the tester at the turbo inlet, start at 5 PSI and work up slowly while you listen and spray soapy water on every joint. Running an upgraded single turbo on a 2JZ or 3S? Measure the outside diameter of the turbo inlet and pick a universal tester or shop kit in that size.
